Emotional Health & Wellbeing

We offer a variety of youth services aimed at fostering mental wellness, building resilience, and promoting positive emotional growth.

At Kidz Konnekt, we recognise that nurturing Emotional Health and Wellbeing is essential for shaping the bright futures of young lives.

Promoting Mental Wellness for Young People

We provide Children and Young People Emotional support for issues such as low mood, anxiety, and behaviours that challenge. We do this through offering counselling sessions, one-on-one meetings and small group workshops to ensure that every child and young person has someone to talk to.

This service is for individuals who do not meet the criteria for other services or are waiting for support and would benefit from low-level interventions and access to positive activities as a preventative measure.

The wraparound program to help support this process includes youth clubs, music, arts, outdoor adventures, and peer-led activities, are designed to provide safe spaces for self-expression and connection.

We help young people manage their emotions, build confidence, and enhance their sense of self-worth. The youth clubs we provide and events encourage open dialogue about emotional health, offering young people tools to manage stress, anxiety, and other challenges they may face.

Promoting Mental Wellness for Young People

In addition to individual support, children and young people also have the opportunity to engage in group work with peers as part of their journey. The services extend beyond emotional health support to include various youth clubs, sports clubs, art workshops, and other activities to promote social development and provide a voice for children and young people.

The program is flexible and accessible services are provided at our purpose-built Youth and Community Centre at Eston Leisure Centre TS6 9AE.

To be eligible for support, children and young people must reside in the South Bank, Grangetown, Eston or Redcar areas and be between the ages of 7 and 16 years.

They should not be currently receiving any other emotional health and wellbeing support. This is a fully funded service.

Case Studies

Young Person 1
A young girl was referred to the Emotional Health and Wellbeing service due to behaviour issues at school, including frequent peer conflicts, poor focus, and academic struggles. At home, she was affected by her parents’ separation, her brother’s neurodiversity, a house move, and involvement with social services.

She received one-to-one and small group support to help with emotional regulation, peer relationships, and confidence. Structured activities helped her feel a sense of belonging and build resilience. Her school was supported to refer her for a CAMHS assessment and guided on strategies to support her in class.

Over time, she became more emotionally stable and confident. She joined after-school clubs, improved her conflict management, and stayed more engaged in structured settings. While challenges remain, she now has tools to cope and continues to receive support in school and access to the youth club.

Young Person 2
A young boy was referred due to difficulties managing anger, forming friendships, and making positive choices. His frustration often led to conflicts and isolation from peers.

He received one-to-one anger management sessions using Hulk-themed resources and joined small groups to improve his social skills and decision-making. He also began attending the Kidz Konnekt youth club to help build confidence in a structured, supportive environment.

He has shown significant progress, becoming calmer, more engaged, and better able to form friendships. His emotional regulation improved both at school and home, and he continues to build on his progress through youth activities.

Young Person 3
A young boy was referred after experiencing trauma from witnessing a violent domestic incident. Since then, he had shown signs of anxiety, emotional distress, and struggled with sleep and focus at school.

He took part in one-to-one trauma-informed sessions to manage anxiety and intrusive thoughts, as well as small group work to reconnect socially. Over time, he grew more emotionally stable and confident, eventually feeling safe enough to sleep in his own bed again.

He joined the Kidz Konnekt youth club, where structured and creative activities supported his recovery. His teachers and parents noticed improvements in his wellbeing, and he now has strong coping tools and ongoing support in place.
